About the text:

Al-Nawawi’s Summary of Muqaddima Ibn al-Salah, or ‘Ulūm al-Ḥadiīth, has unique features that highlight its scholarly value. His clear expression conveys complex ideas simply, making it accessible for students and researchers. He preserves the original work’s aims by reducing length without losing meaning, maintaining precision and benefit. Moreover, al-Nawawi carefully phrases his references, often saying “the Shaykh said” instead of repeatedly naming Ibn al-Ṣalah, reflecting a scholarly practice that ensures brevity and respect. He also enriches the text by adding thoughtful points and insights beyond Ibn al-Ṣalaḥ’s Muqaddima, demonstrating his critical understanding.
